Dr. Karen Sheridan is a clinical psychologist and doctorate level behavior analyst licensed in Texas (#40395), Florida (#12817), and Louisiana (#1096).
Dr. Sheridan earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Mississippi in 2007. As a graduate student, Dr. Sheridan had her first client with autism who was a 4 year old, nonverbal boy. She worked with him for a year utilizing techniques of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). The child learned verbal language, play, social, and academic skills over the course of that year and was able to attend an inclusive kindergarten class when he turned five. This experience led Dr. Sheridan to devote her career to serving those with autism and other developmental disabilities.

Dr. Sheridan would go on to receive her psychology license in 2009 and her doctorate level behavior analyst certification in 2013. Over the years, she has worked in many different settings providing assessment, consultation, and treatment services to this special population. Her first job was working in a state-run outpatient clinic providing assessment and treatment services to individuals with developmental disabilities as a part of a multidisciplinary team including a psychiatrist, speech pathologist, occupational therapist, social worker, physical therapist, nutritionist, and nurse. In this position, Dr. Sheridan worked with clients in the outpatient clinic, home, and community settings. In private practice, she has also provided school consultation services to special education departments for 6 districts in 2 different states. In addition, Dr. Sheridan worked at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital (the current #1 Children’s Hospital in the country) performing comprehensive assessments for children with suspected autism and developmental disabilities in a multidisciplinary setting, as well as, delivering short-term treatment services to this population. Following this position, Dr. Sheridan was the director of two different applied behavior analysis (ABA) clinics providing autism assessment and treatment services to the early intervention population while overseeing board certified behavior analysts (BCBAs) and registered behavior technicians (RBTs). As you can see, Dr. Sheridan has a passion for the autism population and is dedicated to providing quality testing and consultation services through the convenience of telehealth to assist parents in fostering their children’s independence and increasing their quality of life.
Dr. Sheridan’s unique professional experiences give her the knowledge to not only assist families through the assessment process, but also, the next steps once the diagnosis is given. For example, she is able to assist families in understanding treatment options such as applied behavior analysis (ABA), state disability program requirements, and special education processes such as a developing an individualized education plan (IEP). The experience of having your child receive an autism diagnosis can be overwhelming and confusing; therefore, Dr. Sheridan’s goal is to prepare families for the journey ahead of them post assessment.
When she is not working, Dr. Sheridan enjoys working in her garden, cooking delicious meals for her family, and cuddling with her husband and dog, Charlie, on the couch while watching reality television.
